As a coach James has worked with leaders and team members on 6 continents, and provided over 2500 debriefs of the Emotional Quotient Inventory and worked with many other assessments. As a consultant he shows how to provide an insightful interpretation of EQ results and help clients implement changes to increase productivity and team integration. James has had two distinct career tracks over the course of his life.
He also worked in the construction industry at the frontline supervisory level for many years and owned and operated his own commercial and residential remodeling company.
As Vice President of Collaborative Growth James applies his expertise in developing emotional effectiveness to help teams improve their productivity and help their leaders anticipate change, respond to it resiliently, and expand their influence beyond the traditional chain of command.
He is the co-creator of the TESI®, the world’s first scientifically validated assessment of team emotional and social intelligence and coauthor of Emotional Intelligence in Action, The Emotionally Intelligent Team, A Coach’s Guide to Emotional Intelligence and Handbook for Developing Emotional and Social Intelligence. He helps organizations improve their bottom line by building a climate of emotionally effective communication in which people want to collaborate and do their best work.
Throughout all of his experience a single theme has guided his interests and efforts: helping people reduce conflict by improving their communication skills. Collaborative Growth got its start twenty years ago as a mediation company and trained over 300 mediators in the public and private sectors. James has applied his consulting, coaching and mediation skills on behalf of clients such as the World Bank, the US Air Force, American Express, Medtronic, the Forest Service and numerous others.
